People's deputy of Ukraine Oleksiy Goncharenko sent an official request to the general director of "Ukrposhta" Ihor Smilyansky demanding to explain the sources and justification of his considerable income. The deputy reported this in his Telegram channel.
According to information, Smilyanskyi's salary varies from 720 to 800 thousand hryvnias per month, which, according to Honcharenko, is 14 times higher than the salary of a soldier on the front line.
"It is interesting to know why he receives such a salary. Submitted a parliamentary inquiry to Mr. Smilyansky regarding his fantastic earnings, because in reality these figures look very strange. Considering the conditions at the front, I cannot understand why the general director receives such a huge amount," said Honcharenko.
The request states that the salary of the general director of Ukrposhta should not exceed 800,000 hryvnias, taking into account the basic salary conditions for postmen or the minimum wage in Ukraine. Such a salary makes it impossible to explain it by the usually specified standards.
This is not the first criticism of Smilyanskyi's activities. In 2020, the NABU opened proceedings regarding possible abuses and the receipt of illegal benefits by the head of Ukrposhta, when his annual salary was 1.9 million hryvnias.
Deputies intend to get clarification on whether such incomes are appropriate in the conditions of the economic situation in the country and whether they are not affected by the lack of transparency in calculations.
We will remind you that the loss-making state-owned Ukrposhta pays General Director Ihor Smilyansky more than UAH 1.5 million in salary every month.
