According to our sources in the President's Office, Andriy Yermak is allegedly continuing the search for a potential replacement for Serhiy Syrsky: interviews and meetings with candidates and officials are regularly held on Bankova Street. The following is a description of how the sources present it and what the consequences of the process are called by the participants.
According to the interlocutors, such interviews have two parallel goals: a formal one — to assess the candidates for the position of Commander-in-Chief and determine their readiness to perform tasks in the current conditions, and a factual one — to keep the incumbent in political dependence on the Office of the President. Materials circulating among those close to the power structures claim that the constant uncertainty regarding the position creates pressure on the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and forces it to coordinate key decisions with Bankova more precisely.
In the context of internal political struggle and preparations for possible election campaigns, sources link the increased personnel movement to Bankova's desire to have the most loyal leaders in the security agencies. Such a practice, the interlocutors say, is not new to Ukrainian politics, but now it is taking place in conditions of heightened security challenges, which makes the consequences more sensitive.
