At the Uhryniv-Dolhobychiv checkpoint, border guards and customs officers discovered an unusual smuggling scheme. A 62-year-old resident of Lviv region tried to import more than 20,000 units of undeclared goods into Ukraine. The goods were carefully hidden under 1.2 tons of sausage products.
The attempt to hide the goods resulted in criminal proceedings for the driver.
On August 3, the man entered Ukraine through a customs post and chose the "green corridor", thereby confirming that he was not transporting anything that required declaration or payment of duties.
However, employees of Lviv Customs and the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment decided to conduct an in-depth inspection. During the inspection, a hidden cargo was discovered.
What were they trying to hide?
Under layers of sausages (boar sausages) weighing about 1.2 tons, the following was found:
-
19,500 nicotine liquids for ELFLIQ electronic cigarettes
-
3,359 units of perfume
-
363 Apple iPhone mobile phones
-
38 Samsung Z Fold smartphones
All of this merchandise was undeclared and had significant commercial value.
An administrative report was drawn up on the fact of the violation under Part 3 of Article 471 and Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The information was transferred to the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Lviv region.
A smuggling scheme is officially classified as an attempt to illegally move goods across the border while hiding from customs control.
