The projected decrease in the population of Ukraine by 2100 will amount to 15.3 million people, indicating the ongoing demographic transformation of the country. This projected number is a significant decrease compared to the current population of Ukraine, which according to the latest data exceeds 41 million people.
This is stated in the UN report "Prospects of the World Population in 2024".
Also, the UN predicts that in 2084 there will be a maximum level of humanity in this century - 10.3 billion people, and by 2100 the number of people will decrease to 10.2 billion.
The report also states that the average life expectancy by the end of the 21st century will be 81.7 years.
At the same time, men, on average, will live a little less than 80 years, women - almost 84 years. Let us remind you that Ukraine remains one of the countries with the lowest birth rate in the world. Before full-scale war, in 2021, the fertility rate was 1.16, which is below the rate of natural reproduction (2.1–2.2), and also significantly below the local maximum in 2012 (1.53).
It was also reported that a draft demographic development strategy until 2040 was developed in Ukraine.
