Citizens of Ukraine generally support the idea of migrants voting in presidential and parliamentary elections, but do not want these persons to have the right to run for office. This is confirmed by a sociological survey conducted by the Razumkov Center.
According to the data, the relative majority of respondents (47% and 48%, respectively) believe that citizens who left Ukraine during the war and did not return, have the right to vote in the first post-war elections of the Verkhovna Rada and the president. However, 36% of respondents are against this possibility in the case of elections to the Verkhovna Rada and 35.5% - in presidential elections.
It is interesting that the vast majority of respondents (81-82%) believe that these citizens should not have the right to be elected in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, the president, as well as in local elections, including the elections of city and village heads and council deputies.
The survey was conducted from June 15 to 20, 2024, among 2,016 respondents in the territories controlled by the government of Ukraine, where hostilities are not taking place. The theoretical sampling error is 2.3%.
