The State Savings Bank decided to automatically extend the validity period of all its cards, including those whose term expired after February 2022. From now on, the cards will remain valid until at least June 30, 2025.
The bank explained that this is related to the state of war in Ukraine. Renewal is automatic, so customers do not need to contact branches for activation or reissue.
What changes for customers?
- Cards continue to function fully even if their validity period has passed.
- You can carry out all standard operations: pay in the trade and service network, withdraw cash from ATMs, etc.
- If the new card has already been reissued, it can be picked up at a bank branch.
Earlier, Oschadbank extended the validity of cards several times due to the war. The last time this was done was before the end of 2024.
At the same time, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) plans to conduct stress testing for 21 banks in 2025, which account for more than 90% of the assets of the banking system.
Objectives of stress testing:
- Assessment of stability of banks and the banking system in war conditions.
- Fulfillment of Ukraine's international obligations to the IMF and the EU.
Which banks will be checked?
Among them: PrivatBank, Oschadbank, Ukreximbank, Ukrgasbank, Sens Bank, Raiffeisen Bank, OTP Bank, PUIB, Kredobank and others.
Stress testing will take place in three stages:
- Asset quality assessment as of January 1, 2025.
- Extrapolation of results for all banks.
- Stress testing under basic and adverse macroeconomic scenarios.
These measures are designed to ensure the financial stability and reliability of the banking system of Ukraine even in the most difficult conditions.
The decision of Oschadbank to extend the validity period of the cards and NBU checks is evidence that the banking sector is adapting to the conditions of martial law. Ukrainians can be sure of access to their funds and security of transactions.
