Mushroom poisoning claimed the lives of a child and a father in the Ternopil Region

At the end of October, a tragic event occurred in the Ternopil region: a large family was poisoned by mushrooms, as a result of which a 3-year-old girl and her father died. This was reported by the police of the Ternopil region.

The incident happened in the city of Kopychyntsi, where on October 27, the father of the family collected mushrooms and prepared meals from them for the whole family, except for the mother. That same evening, the children began to feel worse, but the mother sought medical help only on October 30. Almost the entire family was admitted to the hospital, including eight children aged three to thirteen, seven of whom were siblings, as well as the mother's roommate.

The most severe cases among children were sent to medical institutions in Lviv. Unfortunately, the father of the family died on November 1, and the girl, born in 2021, died the next day. Despite the operation, it was not possible to save her life.

At the moment, seven children are still being treated in Kyiv, their condition is assessed as stable.

The police opened criminal proceedings under articles 166 (malicious failure to fulfill duties to care for a child) and 115 marked "accident" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The tragedy served as a bitter reminder of the dangers associated with eating wild mushrooms and the importance of caution in such matters.
