After the large-scale invasion of Russian troops, hundreds of kilometers of fortifications were built around Kyiv and several defense rings were created, as reported by the commander of the Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk.
After heading the Kyiv Operational Military Administration for a few months and commanding the defense forces of the capital for a year, Pavlyuk emphasized: "For a year in this position, we carried out a huge amount of work. Approximately 1,000 kilometers of fortifications were built and three defensive circles were created around Kyiv. We paid special attention to strengthening the defense along the Chernobyl direction. We took all measures to prevent sudden enemy attacks."
According to him, today the defense of the capital continues to increase and strengthen. "Currently, long-term concrete fortifications are being actively built. With a neighbor like Russia, we have to be ready for war at any moment. The future of Ukraine depends on the stability of Kyiv's defense," Pavlyuk explained.
On this day, Ukraine celebrates the second anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv region from the Russian invaders. In 2022, residents of such settlements in the Kyiv region as Vorzel, Bucha, Borodyanka, Irpin, Gostomel and others were under occupation for almost a month.
