Pensioners will receive a pension supplement

In Ukraine, pensioners who are in difficult living conditions are entitled to additional payments to the basic pension. thus, the state pays an allowance of up to 1,000 hryvnias to citizens who need constant care or live alone. such payments are part of state support for vulnerable segments of the population and are aimed at improving their well-being.

Some categories of Ukrainian pensioners may receive additional payments from the state. Payments depend on the size of the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost working capacity, established for the current year. The features of additional payments were discussed on the "On pension" portal.

Pensions in Ukraine and additional payments

The portal reminded that citizens over 80 years of age who need state social care assistance are entitled to additional payments. In this case, they are assigned a pension supplement in the amount of 40% of the subsistence minimum for the disabled. In 2024, the amount of the surcharge is UAH 944.4 (40% of UAH 2,361): this is stated in Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 261 dated April 2, 2005 (with all amendments).

  • age over 80 years;
  • living in a house without other relatives or guardians;
  • there is a conclusion of the medical commission that they need constant care;
  • receive an old-age pension.

Pension supplement - how to issue:

  • submit an application for a pension supplement to the Pension Fund (PFU), adding a certain set of documents;
  • documents for receiving the allowance are the conclusion of the medical advisory commission that the person needs constant care, a passport and identification code, an extract from the PFU stating that such an allowance has not yet been received.

Who is entitled to an allowance

The regulation, which deals with allowances for people over the age of 80, specifies other categories of citizens who can receive additional payments for care. Among them are persons with disabilities of the 1st group as a result of the war and some categories of long-term pension recipients. The amount of additional payments is from 15 to 100%, depending on the norms listed in clause 18 of the Cabinet of Ministers resolution.

It should be noted that earlier we talked about 80-year-old Ukrainians who are entitled to another type of pension supplement. This is a supplementary payment in case the pension is less than UAH 10,340. In this case, they will receive "plus" UAH 570. In addition, there are certain features for citizens who retired on March 1, 2024 and have 30-35 years of retirement experience. According to Ukrainian legislation, they must receive a pension of at least UAH 3,370.

We would like to remind you that from March 2025, pensions will be indexed in Ukraine, and some will receive an increase of up to UAH 1,500. The Ministry of Social Policy reported that some Ukrainians will receive additional funds if their pension is less than a certain minimum level of payments.
