Pensions in Ukraine will be calculated according to the points system: what changes to expect

In 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers will launch a pension reform, as part of which a point system will be introduced in the calculation of pensions. This was reported by the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Oksana Zholnovych, during the telethon.

The new system provides for an increase in payments for almost all pensioners, and for this purpose it is planned to increase the budget of the Pension Fund of Ukraine by 100 billion hryvnias. The basic idea is that pensions should be transferred to citizens who retired during the last three years, since during this period they more or less corresponded to the market value of labor.

The point calculation system involves the use of coefficients that will take into account the contribution and salary of each month of work. During this period, the ratio of wages to the average for this period of the year will be calculated, which will determine the number of points for each pensioner. This approach will make it possible to evaluate and compare pension payments taking into account real purchasing power. It is planned to index pension payments according to the number of points obtained.

The minister also noted that for the implementation of the project, it is planned to increase the budget of the Pension Fund by 100 billion hryvnias, in particular, by paying a single social contribution.
