An advanced path to Ukraine's economic stability: the role of the "Made in Ukraine" platform in times of war

At the end of January, the All-Ukrainian Economic Platform “Made in Ukraine” was launched by presidential decree. The creation of this platform is an important step in ensuring the country’s economic stability in times of war, when domestic reserves need to be used.

The goal of the platform is to unite the efforts of government agencies, businesses, foreign investors, and public associations to find common solutions. This will allow us to identify the internal potential of the economy and work on solving the problems caused by the long-term war.

In this context, the implementation of the platform idea involves the creation of both digital and physical spaces to simplify communication between stakeholders and the development of specialized services. This will help solve various tasks more efficiently and quickly.

“Made in Ukraine” should become a permanent body that advises the government and business. Its tasks include restoring business ties, supporting domestic manufacturers and their localization, as well as promoting Ukrainian goods on world markets.

Due to the urgent need to solve a number of problems of Ukrainian business during martial law, the mission of the “Made in Ukraine” platform was formulated, which includes the following:

  1. Ensuring the practical implementation of the right to entrepreneurial activity in conditions of military conflict.
  2. Lobbying the interests of domestic manufacturers in creating a favorable and safe environment for production activities.
  3. Creating a transparent and unburdensome mechanism for constant communication and coordination of interaction between state authorities and business entities, including representatives of relocated enterprises, business associations, sectoral associations, and foreign investors.

At the same time, to ensure the preservation and development of entrepreneurial potential during and after war, the platform will adapt the best international experience in activating entrepreneurial activity in times of crisis.

Since industry plays a key role in ensuring the country's economic stability, the platform will pay special attention to advancing the industrial agenda in Ukraine, in particular, protecting domestic production potential during the prolonged impact of military challenges. The following approaches will be used to achieve this:

  1. Formation of sectoral platforms for discussing and solving common problems, taking into account the specifics of sectoral economies.
  2. Creation of permanent working groups to analyze current industry problems and develop ways to solve them.
  3. Joint study and implementation of tools to restore and stimulate business activity of Ukrainian producers.

In addition, the platform will provide support in solving energy problems of industry, including the development of alternative energy sources and energy-efficient technologies, which are critical for carbon-dependent enterprises. Thus, the Made in Ukraine platform plans to actively implement strategies aimed at supporting and developing the industrial sector, ensuring the economic sustainability and competitiveness of the country.

Therefore, the results of the functioning of the “Made in Ukraine” platform can be determined by the following practical achievements:

  1. Search for business partners and establish business relationships to increase the localization of production activities.
  2. Development of relevant industry business cases to help solve problems related to changing regional factors of industrial development and the need for energy sector transformation.
  3. Creating new producer support programs and processing industry development plans, facilitating access to financing and advisory services.

An additional goal of the platform is to facilitate access to international grant support for microenterprises and small businesses, as well as promote Ukrainian goods on global markets, particularly in Europe.

The effectiveness of the platform depends on the universality of its structure, which should be aimed at forming an ecosystem where solutions and consultations are provided on industry platforms structured by types of economic activity and regions. Among the priority areas of the platform's activity are the provision of consulting services on business administration and expertise of the regulatory environment.

It is emphasized that the proposed directions and structural elements of the platform are subject to constant revision and expansion, taking into account changes in security and economic conditions. Thus, the “Made in Ukraine” platform can become a flexible tool aimed at protecting national economic interests and forming internal reserves of economic stability of the country, with a special emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises.
