The fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko made a statement in which he outlined five important "red lines" that, in his opinion, should be taken into account by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump.
These key points concern security, sovereignty of Ukraine, as well as its relations with international partners against the background of a difficult political situation. Poroshenko called to take into account these "red lines" as priorities that cannot be crossed in any negotiations or decision-making.
1. He urged not to make "compromises on sovereignty" and to prevent Ukraine from returning to Russia's sphere of influence.
2. He also stated that Ukraine does not recognize the "Russian" status of the captured territories.
3. Kyiv should not limit the power of the Armed Forces.
4. In addition, Poroshenko demands that sanctions against Russia not be lifted until Ukraine returns its territories.
5. And, in his opinion, it is necessary to "convince President Trump" to admit Ukraine to NATO after completing his "homework", because now, according to the ex-president, Ukraine is not ready for membership.
That is, in fact, Poroshenko is calling for an end to the war along the front line, without recognizing Russian jurisdiction over the captured territories, with the preservation of the statehood of the remaining part of Ukraine, in its current form, and with the postponed prospect of joining NATO.
