An increase in the minimum wage even by 100 hryvnias in 2025 can significantly affect the budget of Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Verkhovna Rada's budget committee, Roksolana Pidlas, in an interview for Interfax. She emphasized that the issue of the minimum wage is one of the key elements in the formation of the country's budget.
According to her calculations, increasing the minimum wage by 100 hryvnias requires an additional 5.3 billion hryvnias from the state budget. And an increase of 1,000 hryvnias, that is, to 9,000 hryvnias, will cost Ukraine more than 50 billion hryvnias, which is a serious financial burden for a country whose economy has not yet reached a sufficient level of recovery.
Podlasa also explained that raising the living wage is not yet possible, as numerous social benefits are tied to it. These standards can be reviewed only under the conditions of GDP growth.
At the same time, despite budgetary difficulties, wages are increasing in Ukraine. According to data for August 2024, the average salary for vacancies increased by 18.9% compared to the same period last year and amounted to UAH 19,674. The average salary per resume for the same period increased by 14% and reached UAH 20,503.
It is interesting that during the war, employers increasingly prefer women. The reason for this was the mobilization of men and difficulties with their reservation. According to statistics, 59% of new businesses in Ukraine were opened by women during the war, which indicates the active participation of women in the development of the country's economy.
