Nataliya Gumenyuk, a representative of the OC "South", said that the investigation into the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russians in the area of the village of Krynka, Kherson region, as well as the identification of the dead defenders, is currently ongoing. She stressed that the analysis of the video published online is difficult, but experts, including police officers, are working on it. In connection with this tragedy, Ukraine appealed to international organizations, in particular to the UN and ICRC.
"Similar cases have already happened many times, when the enemy shot unarmed prisoners of war. We previously recorded such events in other areas of the front, and all of them are documented for further criminal proceedings," Humenyuk said during the telethon.
She explained that the publication of the video of the soldiers' execution shows that the Russian occupiers did not succeed in the Krynok area, continuing their unsuccessful attacks. The Russians are constantly looking for ways to dislodge the Armed Forces from their bridgehead, but so far they have not achieved this.
"They tried to increase the number of assaults, entered from different directions, but this did not lead to results. Sometimes even up to 16 assaults were conducted per day, but they lost up to 60% of personnel and returned empty," Humenyuk said. "Now they carry out an average of five to six assaults a day, trying to work as full-fledged assault groups, but still do not use armored vehicles."
