The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported a serious deterioration of air quality in many regions of the country, caused by dusty wind streams coming from the Caspian Lowland. The greatest pollution is observed in Kyiv, where the level of air pollution has already reached dangerous levels.
Deterioration of air quality is recorded in many regions of Ukraine. According to satellite data, dusty wind currents from the Caspian lowland dragged Ukraine this morning. They worsen air quality
It is indicated that as of the morning of October 3, a high level of atmospheric air pollution is observed in the city of Kyiv. The air quality index ranges from 76 to 89.
The index of fine dust ranges from 95.4 μg/m3 to 127.9 μg/m3. The probable reason for the temporary deterioration of the air condition is the fires in the ecosystem of the Kyiv region and the cross-border influence of air masses.
According to the Ukrhydrometeorological center, this situation with the atmospheric air will last until Friday, when the direction of the wind in Ukraine will change to the south and west. Dust will reach us in waves, meaning improvements will alternate with deteriorations in visibility and air quality.
Recommendations:
Avoid being outdoors during a dust storm, especially for people with breathing problems.
It is recommended to keep windows closed and use indoor air purifiers. It is also necessary to wear protective masks or respirators if it is necessary to go outside. Drivers should be especially careful due to reduced visibility on the roads.
