The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland emphasized the importance of a "bolder" approach on the part of the United States in the context of military and financial aid to Ukraine. In his opinion, to ensure victory in the fight against Russian aggression, Ukraine needs not only means of survival, but also a strategy that will allow to restore its sovereignty.
He said this in an interview with Bloomberg.
Ukraine's prospects for success in protecting against Russia may depend on "whether the Biden administration will be bolder" and whether it will provide decisive support between the elections and the inauguration of the next US president, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry said.
"We would like to have a strategy for winning this war, not just for Ukraine to survive," said Sikorskyi.
He noted that Ukraine needs more weapons and more funds to create its own weapons, because "this is the only language that Putin understands."
Sikorsky also said that Ukraine has the right to strike at legitimate Russian military targets, including airfields used to carry out devastating attacks, adding that the West's fears about the escalation of the conflict are exaggerated.
"Every time we discussed supplying something to Ukraine, Putin threatened escalation," Sikorskyi said.
The US government's decision to allow Ukraine to use American weapons for long-range strikes "will definitely help," the minister added.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radoslaw Sikorski, stated that his country supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and his proposal to place Crimea under the UN mandate for the organization of a referendum sounded within the framework of a hypothetical discussion.
