Over 175,000 applications for registration in the Unified Weapons Register of Ukraine for 2023

In June 2023, the Unified Register of Weapons in Ukraine was successfully put into operation, and on January 5, 2024, the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko announced the results achieved in this direction.

The Minister noted that one of the important tasks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the effective resolution of the issues of registration and accounting of weapons. Creation of the Unified register of weapons was included in the list of priorities this year.

The announcement about the launch of the registry was made in March of last year, and after busy working months, the database was fully launched. This made it possible to strengthen control over the circulation of weapons in Ukraine, and also simplified the procedure for obtaining permits for citizens.

It is noted that by the end of 2023, more than 175 applications from Ukrainian citizens who requested permission to own various types of weapons were processed. The police made more than 164,000 decisions on issuing relevant permits.

Minister Klymenko emphasized that work in this direction continues, and the agency has the necessary knowledge and means to ensure the country's security.
