The Ministry of Veterans, together with the veteran community, plans to create veteran spaces throughout Ukraine during 2024-2025. These spaces will become centers where veterans, their families and relatives of fallen defenders can receive comprehensive assistance and services.
Oleksandr Porhun, Acting Minister of Veteran Affairs, announced this while participating in the panel "Rehabilitation of War Victims: Medical, Psychological and Social Aspects" at the Second International Summit of Cities and Regions. According to him, in these spaces, veterans will have access to social-psychological and sports-physical rehabilitation, consulting support, legal assistance, and will also be able to take advantage of training, retraining and entertainment.
Porhun noted that the creation of such spaces is a response to the needs of the veteran community in medical, psychological, legal and educational assistance. It will be an extensive, inclusive network where anyone can get the help they need and spend time in a comfortable environment.
Initially, veteran spaces are planned to be developed in Lviv, Dnipro, Odesa and Rivne. According to the plan, they will be opened in communities with a population of more than 20,000 people. It is expected that there will be about 450 of them in total, including 20 in regional centers.
According to the Ministry of Veterans, there are currently more than 1 million war veterans in Ukraine, as well as about 3.5 million members of their families and relatives of fallen defenders.
