Recently, more and more Ukrainian immigrants have chosen Germany, the Czech Republic and Spain as their new place of residence. Currently, more than 4.3 million citizens of Ukraine have received temporary protection status in the European Union, mainly in Germany (1.2 million), Poland (951 thousand) and the Czech Republic (381 thousand).
According to the last count, as of the end of December 2023, the largest absolute increase in the number of immigrants was observed in Germany (+18,905; +1.5%), the Czech Republic (+8,155; +2.2%) and Spain (+2,830; +1.5%).
The opposite trend was observed in five EU countries, a decrease in the number of refugees in Italy (-18,125 people; -11.2%), Poland (-3,235; -0.3%), Estonia (-225; -0.6 %), France (-205; – 0.3%) and Luxembourg (-10; -0.2%).
According to the general indicator, among Ukrainian migrants, the largest share is women - 46.1%, while children make up 33.2%, and adult male migrants - 20.7%.
On 28 September 2023, the European Council decided to extend temporary protection for persons fleeing Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine from 4 March 2024 to 4 March 2025.
We will remind that according to a study conducted by the National Bank of Poland, every fifth adult refugee from Ukraine who is in this country is a man.
In December 2023, the member of the Bundestag from the CDU party on defense and foreign policy, Roderich Kiesewetter, noted that there are "up to ten divisions" of Ukrainian men living in Germany who can help their country in the war against the Russian Federation. Previously, he advocated strengthening Ukraine's armaments. It should be noted that about 190,000 Ukrainian men of military age officially live in Germany.
