The company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Nexter Systems (KNDS), which specializes in the production of armored vehicles, announced the impossibility of providing additional weapons to the Ukrainian military in the near future. The director of KNDS, Ralf Ketzel, explained that the capacity for rapid production was exhausted because it was difficult to predict the duration of the war on Ukrainian territory. NATO countries have also identified a need for new equipment, which complicates the situation.
Ketzel expressed the opinion that a strategic decision on supplies could have been made earlier, allowing the company to provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons. He also emphasized the importance of the support of allies and partners for the effective support of the Ukrainian army.
Noting the difficulties of restoring the equipment on the spot, Ketzel expressed concern that the repair of Leopard tanks in the conflict zone could take a long time. Procurement of spare parts also remains an issue, especially given Germany's need to prepare for possible conflicts.
Recently, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov, called on the world's defense companies and technological giants to invest in Ukrainian arms production, which indicates Ukraine's strategic course to strengthen its military capabilities.
The Ukrainian military, for its part, has already started using Dutch anti-aircraft guns called Cheetah to destroy enemy targets, continuing to develop its defense capabilities.
