Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed hope that the war in Ukraine could end "in the coming months." He stated this during his speech, commenting on the latest diplomatic steps of European leaders. In particular, Trudeau positively assessed the initiative of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who recently held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Perhaps there are windows in which this (the end of the conflict - Ed.) can happen in the coming months," he said.
"We all understand how important it is to put an end to violence in Ukraine, to put an end to conflicts around the world. This requires a certain level of interaction with colleagues, with whom we disagree in many cases," Trudeau said, commenting on the German Chancellor's conversation with the Russian President.
In his opinion, in order to end the fighting, Ukraine needs to maintain support from the United States after Donald Trump's return to power. "Let's be extremely frank: all the allies in the world will not be able to replace the complete refusal of the United States to support Ukraine," Trudeau added.
