Vitaly Portnikov, a well-known Ukrainian journalist, expressed his concern on Ukrainian television about the duration of the war and possible changes in Ukraine's mobilization policy. He noted that if the conflict continues for another two years, there is a possibility of lowering the mobilization age, and in the case of a five-year war, it is possible to involve women in military service.
"I have repeatedly said that the conscription age will be reduced. There is no need to nurture illusions that this will not happen. If the war continues for another two or three years, the conscription age will be reduced, if it continues for five years, women will be drafted," he said.
Portnikov also commented on the recent TCC raids on concerts, restaurants and shopping malls.
"It is necessary to understand that with the development of the war it will all become tougher. It is necessary to understand this objectively, if we agree with the paradigm of a protracted war from which there is no way out, additional mobilization will be needed," the journalist believes.
It will be recalled that earlier Portnikov stated that the real choice now facing Ukrainians is either stopping (freezing) the war now, or handing it over to the next generation in the hot phase.
