Former prosecutor Bogdan Bezkorovayny, who was accused of committing a criminal offense, left Ukraine after transferring his case to court. In July 2022, the accused crossed the border through the checkpoint of the fork in Transcarpathia, although at that time he had already passed as a person involved in criminal proceedings.
During the year, Bezkovayny did not appear at court sessions, and his lawyer claimed that he did not know where he was. It was later revealed that the worker lives in the United States of America. Its absence in Ukraine was explained by "family circumstances" that allegedly forced him to stay abroad for a long time.
The court allowed the accused to participate in the meetings remotely-through video broadcasts from the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York, as well as using the Easycon system. It was in this format that Bezvnykaya gave his testimony.
As a result of the case, the court condemned the former prosecutor to one year of imprisonment. However, the verdict has not come into force and may be challenged. Thus, in fact, Bogdan Bezkorovayny avoided real punishment - left abroad and not in custody.
