The Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors has imposed disciplinary action on Natalia Lenkova, a prosecutor at the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office. She will not be eligible for promotion or transfer for a year.
The reason was the systematic ignoring of calls to the state institution "Ukrainian State Research Institute of Medical and Social Problems of Disability of the Ministry of Health", where Lenkova was supposed to confirm the II group of disability, established back in 2012.
According to the complaint filed by the acting head of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, the prosecutor failed to appear for an examination four times. In her explanations, she stated that she missed some of the calls for good reasons: illness, caring for a child, and fear of going to the Dnipro River due to regular rocket attacks.
At the same time, the disciplinary commission emphasized that the refusal to conduct the inspection created a negative resonance and compromised the prosecutor's office. The decision states that society may perceive such actions as an attempt to avoid responsibility for the possible illegal establishment of disability and receipt of benefits.
Lenkova insisted that she received the status of a person with a disability due to the psycho-emotional stress associated with supporting the prosecution in high-profile criminal cases. She refused management positions due to her health condition and independently underwent an examination in August 2025, according to the results of which the Ministry of Health confirmed her diagnoses and group II disability.
Despite this, the commission concluded that the prosecutor tried to shift her own responsibility onto the medical authorities, violating the Code of Professional Ethics for Prosecutors.
As a result, Natalia Lenkova is prohibited from holding senior positions or moving to higher-level prosecutor's offices for a year.
