Transcarpathian law enforcement officers have completed an investigation into a 23-year-old resident of Chop, who is suspected of creating an international human trafficking scheme. According to investigators, the woman exploited the vulnerable state of Ukrainian women by offering them high-paying jobs abroad, but in reality planned to send them for sexual exploitation.
As reported by the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office, the suspect acted through social networks. She found Ukrainian women who were looking for work abroad and convinced them with attractive conditions. In this way, she managed to recruit two women - a 25-year-old resident of Poltava region and a 29-year-old resident of Chernihiv region.
The plan was built in several stages: first, the victims were to be transported to Transcarpathia, and then to the Czech Republic, where they were prepared to travel on to Jordan and Qatar. There, the women were planned to be involved in providing sexual services.
The suspect was detained at the Chop railway station. The court chose a preventive measure for her - detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 300 thousand hryvnias.
The women are charged with recruitment and movement of persons for exploitation, committed repeatedly and taking advantage of the vulnerable state of the victims. The actions are classified under parts 1 and 2 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for severe punishment for human trafficking.
The investigation has been completed, the materials have been submitted to the court.
