This morning, after 73 days of relative calm, Kyiv again found itself under a combined attack by the Russian armed forces. The attack began around 6:30 a.m., when an air alert was declared in the capital due to the threat of drones from the east. At that time, according to the Air Force of Ukraine, cruise missiles were already approaching the Kyiv region.
For the attack, the occupiers used a wide arsenal, including air-launched cruise missiles, KN-23, KN-24 and Iskander-M ballistic missiles, as well as Shahed drones and others with similar characteristics. When the cruise missiles were already approaching Kyiv, the enemy launched a ballistic attack at the same time, which greatly complicated the work of the Ukrainian air defense forces. The attack ended with a new wave of drones.
During the air battle, Ukrainian air defense forces were able to destroy several cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as about a dozen enemy drones. Exact data on the types of downed weapons will be made public in the reports of the Air Force of Ukraine.
As of now, there has been no information about the destruction or victims in Kyiv, but the situation remains tense.
This attack was another reminder that, despite the break in active strikes on the capital, the threat remains relevant. The Ukrainian military once again demonstrated the effectiveness of its anti-aircraft defense, successfully repelling an enemy raid and reducing its potential destructive consequences.
