From January 17 to 20, 2025, Ukraine will continue the final technical work to restore the infrastructure of state registers after a large-scale cyber attack by Russia. This was reported by the state enterprise "National Information Systems" (SE "NAIS") in its official statement.
The work will take place from 22:00 on January 17 to 08:00 on January 20. During this period, users should be prepared for possible interruptions in the operation of the following registers:
- Unified state register of legal entities, individual entrepreneurs and public organizations;
- State register of acts of civil status of citizens;
- Unified register of powers of attorney;
- Inheritance register;
- Unified register of special forms of notarial documents.
The work is aimed at the final recovery after a large-scale cyber attack carried out by Russian hackers. The incident caused significant damage to the information infrastructure of Ukraine, in particular to key registers.
During the period of work, there may be interruptions in access to the specified registers, which may affect:
- registration of business and public organizations;
- execution of notarial documents;
- work with acts of civil status (birth, marriage, divorce, etc.).
This is another attempt by Ukraine to strengthen the cyber security of its registries in response to threats from Russia, which uses cyber attacks as a tool of hybrid warfare. Despite the considerable efforts of Ukrainian cyber security specialists, attacks of this scale leave long-lasting consequences.
