As a result of another attack by Russian troops on the main substation, one of the power lines of the occupied Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZAEP) was cut off, which again put the plant on the verge of blackout. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko commented on the situation, calling it another act of Russian terrorism. He emphasized the danger of an accident at the ZNPP and called for the immediate implementation of the IAEA resolution, which requires the plant to be returned to Ukrainian control. "Safe operation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP is possible only under the control of Ukraine," the minister emphasized.
Power engineers are already working to eliminate the consequences of the attack, trying to restore power to the occupied station as soon as possible.
The IAEA has repeatedly called not to restart the Zaporizhzhya NPP reactors while the war continues. Earlier, agency experts reported explosions near a substation near the station, probably as a result of a drone attack.
In addition, it is known that the Russian military uses the territory of the station as a training base for FPV drone pilots, which further exacerbates the risks at Zaporizhzhya NPP.
Recently, during the IAEA general conference, the IAEA adopted a resolution demanding that Russia immediately leave the territory of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant and hand it over to Ukrainian control.
