On March 27, 2024, the Russian Federation continues active actions in the Sumy region of Ukraine. Kharkiv was left without electricity due to shelling aimed at the energy infrastructure of the eastern, southern and central parts of the country. These attacks seriously complicate the operation of the energy system of the entire country, which in turn leads to a further slowdown of the economy and an increase in the budget deficit.
Such aggressive activity by Russian forces threatens to attack Kharkiv, especially given the rumors, which are similar to those in 2023, about a possible encirclement of the city. In particular, the possibility of an offensive through Sumy, which has become the object of constant shelling, is planned. No one can say for sure, but there is a possibility. Of course, the Russians can still wait, because time is now on their side.
The consequence of these events is a decrease in the interest of the West in the Ukrainian crisis, especially against the background of the activation of other global problems, such as the conflict in Palestine and the issues of the Balkan region and Taiwan. This may lead to difficulties for the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front, as support from Western sponsors may decrease.
Regarding the situation on the border territory of the Sumy region, according to data as of March 27, 2024, 36 shelling of border territories and settlements were recorded. As a result of these shellings, 181 explosions were recorded, which took place in various communities of the region, such as Myropilsk, Velikopysarivsk, Khotinsky, Yunakivsk, Bilopolsk, Krasnopilsk, Stepanivsk, Putivlsk, Shalyginsk, and Seredino-Budsk communities. The shelling was carried out using a variety of weapons, including artillery, mortars, rockets and airstrikes.
