Russian occupying forces could once again capture the Vovchan aggregate plant in the Kharkiv region and probably occupied Verkhnokamyansk in the Donetsk region. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
According to a report by analysts, Russian troops recently advanced deep into Vovchansk as part of offensive operations in the north of the Kharkiv region, which took place on October 7, 8 and 9. Geolocation footage published on October 7, showing a Russian soldier raising the Russian flag on the building of the Vovchan Aggregate Plant, indicates that Russian troops have probably captured this strategic facility.
In addition, enemy troops advanced near Siversk, Donetsk region, on the same dates. Geolocation materials published on October 7 and 8 indicate that Russian troops have recently advanced east of Hryhorivka and into the western part of Verkhnokamyansk.
ISW analysts note that this may indicate the capture of Verkhnokamyanskyi by Russian troops.
It will be recalled that at the end of September it became known about the liberation of the Vovchan aggregate plant by the fighters of the Main Directorate of Intelligence. After the operation was completed, the territory of the plant was transferred to the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the successful clearing of all 30 buildings of the facility. The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, personally participated in the operation to liberate the plant.
Vitaliy Sarantsev, spokesman for the operational-tactical group "Kharkiv", emphasized that after losing control over the plant, the Russians tried to destroy it using flame-throwing systems and guided aerial bombs. These actions highlight the growing tensions and challenges facing Ukrainian forces at the front.
