Romania will promote the export of grain from Ukraine through the construction of an anchorage in the port of Constanta until March 2024
The director of the state shipping company "Ukrainian Danube Shipping" Dmytro Moskalenko said that in March of next year it is planned to put into operation a new anchorage in the port of Constanta for Ukrainian agricultural products. The agreement on this was reached at a meeting with Romanian partners dedicated to increasing the export capacity of Ukrainian ports on the Danube.
Moskalenko noted that discussions on the creation of anchorages with Romanian colleagues began in September. Although the opening of the ports of Odesa reduced the flow of agricultural products through the Danube, the issue of the "reserve" direction of export remains relevant, and the Danube can once again become a key direction.
According to him, the Romanian side plans to hold a tender and develop a regulatory framework during January and February in order to launch the anchorage in March. An agreement has also been concluded for an online queue for barge processing at the port of Constanta, which will contribute to the projected work.
Moskalenko emphasized that idle barges in Constanta lead to additional costs for cargo owners and critically reduce the efficiency of using the fleet.
