According to sources, in Ukraine, over the past three months, Russian attacks on railway infrastructure have led to the destruction of over 10–12% of locomotives — both electric and diesel. This creates serious problems for the logistics of the Armed Forces and the country's economy as a whole.
In addition, the situation in depots and locomotive repair bases is also becoming more difficult. These bases are often used for the modernization and repair of military equipment, which makes them the object of increased enemy attention.
According to experts, the Russian attacks are aimed not only at stopping transport flows for the army, but also at striking at Ukraine's economic stability. The destruction of railway infrastructure complicates the delivery of resources and cargo, which directly affects defense and civilian needs.
Ukrainian railway workers and the military continue to work on restoring damaged equipment and infrastructure, but the losses require urgent replenishment of the locomotive fleet and modernization of the depot.
