Samsung has announced that its new foldable smartphone with three screens will be released in the second half of 2025. This device will be a direct competitor to the Huawei Mate XT, which has recently attracted significant attention in the world of mobile technology.
Samsung is reportedly set to shake up its foldable smartphone lineup, with multiple reports suggesting the company is preparing to release a Huawei-competing Mate XT, its first Galaxy clamshell with three screens.
Previously, it was expected that Samsung would release a similar phone next year, but according to reputable insider Ross Young, the manufacturer will not rush to release the “tri-folding” phone, so its release should be expected at the beginning of 2026 at best.
According to the leaks, Samsung's "tri-fold" will have two hinges that fold inward. The only similar device to date, the Huawei Mate XT, folds like an accordion, with one hinge folding outward and the other inward.
Samsung already has four new Galaxy foldables planned for 2025. In addition to the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, the manufacturer has planned to release the Z Flip 7 FE (more affordable) and Z Fold 7 SE (more expensive), which will most likely appear in the fall.
Samsung is simplifying its foldable smartphones in an attempt to regain lost market share. Analysts say the Korean brand cannot compete successfully in the foldable device market it created due to Chinese counterparts that offer more advanced technology, modern design and affordable price tags.

Rumor has it that Xiaomi and Honor are also preparing their first triple-folding “clamshell.” Analysts predict that the foldable device market will grow by about 30% in 2026. The launch of the first foldable iPhone will also contribute to this.
The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra was previously shown on video. A fresh leak confirms that for the first time in several years, Samsung's flagship smartphone is coming out with an updated design.
