The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court regarding the confiscation of the property of Ivan Popovych, the administrator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center in Tyachiv, Transcarpathia. His assets worth over UAH 8.6 million have been declared unfounded.
According to the investigation, in the period 2020–2022, Popovych and his family became owners of significant assets, the legal origin of which has not been confirmed:
-
5 apartments;
-
4 parking spaces;
-
cars BMW 2018, Mercedes E200 2013 and Audi A8 2018.
Part of the property was registered to the official's wife and daughter. One of the cars was registered to the daughter at a price 15 times lower than the market price, prosecutors note.
When law enforcement agencies began to take an interest in Popovych's assets, he and his close associates transferred some of the real estate and cars to other relatives. At the same time, no legitimate income that could explain such purchases was found in the official and his family.
The SAPO is demanding the confiscation of both property still in the family's possession and compensation for the value of assets that have been transferred to other persons.
So far, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has already seized 4 parking spaces, a land plot, and a hotel and restaurant complex.
