The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to declare unfounded and confiscate assets worth over UAH 4.2 million used by the family of a former deputy of one of the city councils of Sumy region.
According to the NACP, this is a civil confiscation of property in accordance with Art. 290 of the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine. Among the assets that may become the property of the state are an apartment with an area of 53.8 sq. m in the capital's residential complex "French Quarter" worth about UAH 2.8 million, a parking space for UAH 225 thousand, as well as a 2022 Toyota RAV4 car, which was estimated at almost UAH 1.3 million.
According to the NACP, the property was purchased by the former deputy's relatives, but he has the right to dispose of it. An analysis of income and expenses showed that neither the former official nor his family members had legitimate financial grounds for acquiring the said assets.
Now the decision on the possible confiscation of this property will be made by the Supreme Court of Justice. If the court grants the claim, the property will be confiscated as state revenue.
