The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained another Russian agent in the Sumy region, who turned out to be a 48-year-old former deputy of the Shostka city council from the banned Party of Regions. The SBU press service reports this.
According to the investigation, the detainee was actively collecting information about the movements of Ukrainian military personnel. He covertly monitored the movement directions of the echelons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and recorded the locations of military units protecting the border areas of Sumy Region. For this, the man used his car, driving around the area and taking photos and videos.
The security service notes that the traitor tried to obtain the necessary information during "everyday conversations" with acquaintances, which also confirms his involvement in the activities of the Russian special services. He sent the obtained data to a personnel officer of the FSB department in the Bryansk region, whose identity has already been established.
In his intelligence "reports," the former deputy not only provided the coordinates of Ukrainian troops, but also called on the Russian aggressors to strike the city, in particular, at the buildings of territorial procurement centers (TCK).
SBU officers documented the detainee's criminal activities and conducted searches at his place of residence in Shostka, during which they seized a mobile phone with evidence of subversive activity.
Law enforcement officers informed the former regional representative of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
