The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained another Russian agent in the Sumy region, who turned out to be a 48-year-old ex-deputy of the Shostka City Council from the banned Party of Regions. This was reported by the SBU press service.
According to the investigation, the detainee was actively engaged in gathering information about the movement of Ukrainian soldiers. He covertly monitored the movement directions of the echelons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and recorded the locations of military units protecting the borders of the Sumy Oblast. For this, the man used his car, driving around the area and taking photos and videos.
The security service notes that the traitor tried to get the necessary information during "domestic conversations" with acquaintances, which also confirms his involvement in the activities of the Russian special services. He sent the received data to a staff member of the FSB administration in the Bryansk region, whose identity has already been established.
In intelligence "reports", the ex-deputy not only provided the coordinates of Ukrainian troops, but also called on Russian aggressors to attack the city, in particular, the buildings of the territorial procurement centers (TCC).
SBU officers documented the detainee's criminal activities and searched his residence in Shostka, during which they seized a mobile phone with evidence of subversive activities.
The law enforcement officers notified the former regional officer of suspicion under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The perpetrator is currently in custody, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
