The Security Service of Ukraine exposed an intelligence group that worked for the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB), collecting intelligence on the positions of the Defense Forces in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv. This was reported by the SBU press service.
According to security officials, all the detainees were recruited through Russian Telegram channels, where they were looking for quick money. One of the suspects even used fake documents of a veteran law enforcement officer to avoid suspicion during inspections.
In exchange for a financial reward, the Russian special services instructed the agents to covertly photograph the locations of military facilities. In particular, they were interested in the locations of military equipment, personnel and command points of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- In Kyiv and Chernihiv, agents collected data on border detachments and control points of the Armed Forces.
- In Kharkiv, one of the participants tracked the coordinates of the fortified districts where Ukrainian troops are defending the regional center.
The activities of the enemy group were coordinated by a personnel officer of the FSB military counterintelligence, whose identity has already been established by the Ukrainian special services. All three agents were arrested at the scene of the crime during reconnaissance near military facilities.
Investigators of the SBU have already informed the suspects of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — treason committed under martial law. All the detainees were taken into custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
