Sergey Kivalov reduced a pension to 51 thousand hryvnias

Former MP Serhiy Kivalov temporarily lost the status of a record pension in the amount of UAH 246 thousand a month. From now on, it will receive only 51 thousand. The corresponding reduction was the result of new decisions of power aimed at limiting high pensions in 2025.

The reduction of payments has not only affected Kivalov - it applies to all pensioners who received disproportionately large pensions from the state budget. However, despite the radical reduction, Kivalov still remains a record holder in the amount of monthly pension provision in Ukraine.

This event is temporary and operates exclusively in 2025. It was introduced against the background of war and increasing expenses of the state, in particular on the security and defense sector. The mechanism is expected to be revised in 2026.

We will remind, Sergey Kivalov was a deputy of several convocations, the chairman of the Central Election Commission in 2004, and also headed the Odessa Law Academy. His pension for a long time caused public outrage against the background of a general level of payments to other citizens.
