Equides Club was previously owned by the owner of the ATB supermarket chain, Gennady Butkevych, but after Butkevych lost dozens of stores and warehouses, the club had to be sold. According to rumors, it was bought by the co-owner of the MTI group of companies, famous golfer Volodymyr Tsoi.

Recall that Vladimir Tsoi is also a figure in a high-profile scandal over an attempted raider seizure of the Taekwondo Federation of Ukraine. In November 2019, a corresponding appeal was published on the Federation's website, about attempts by Vladimir Tsoi's people to stage a coup and change the leadership of the FTU starting in 2015.
