Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal identified five key sectors where Ukraine intends to present itself as a potential member of the European Union. He noted that these sectors include defense, energy, agriculture, raw materials and digital.
Shmyhal particularly emphasized the Ukrainian defense and military complex, emphasizing technological achievements and the production of the latest equipment. He expressed his belief that Ukraine has the potential to become a key partner of the EU in terms of defense capability and contribute to the strengthening of the European defense system.
In addition, Shmyhal emphasized Ukraine's potential as an energy hub and gas supplier for Europe. He noted that Ukraine has the opportunity to ensure stability and energy security in the EU by providing clean green energy and expanding gas supplies.
The head of government also emphasized Ukraine's potential in the field of agriculture and food security, which can contribute to stability in the world food market. He expressed Kyiv's readiness to cooperate with the EU and noted that Ukraine is ready for negotiations and compromises.
At the end of the interview, Shmyhal confirmed Ukraine's intention to start negotiations on joining the EU during the first half of this year.
