Ukraine once again found itself at the center of a high-profile scandal regarding the purchase of weapons. this time the main figure was the company "PROM-TECHNO GROUP", which was fined 72 million hryvnias by the State Export Control Service of Ukraine. The identified reason for the fine was violations attributed to the manipulation of contracts for the supply of military equipment.
The company is engaged in the production of special purpose machines and equipment and is one of the leaders in this field. Among its owners is Dmytro But, ex-deputy chief of the main investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The company does not recognize the fine and is trying to cancel it through the court.
According to the media, the fine was imposed due to the fact that "PROM-TECHNO GROUP" was supposed to purchase 100 large-caliber machine guns for the GUR from the Czech company STV GROUP AS in 2023. However, the contract was not fulfilled, as it turned out that the company provided false data for obtaining a permit on import. The amount of state procurement was UAH 71,938,440. "PROM-TECHNO GROUP" was fined for this amount in 2024.
The company did not admit its guilt and appealed to the Kyiv District Administrative Court with demands to declare the decision to impose a fine illegal and to cancel it for violating the requirements of the legislation in the field of state export control.
The court accepted the application and opened the case. The first meeting was scheduled for September 2024, but its consideration was postponed to November 13.
