The National Police made a decision to disband the special purpose regiment of the National Security Service of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This information was announced by the Deputy Head of the National Police, Oleksandr Facevych.
On February 4, a video appeared on the network in which police officers discussed the possibility of transfer to the "Rage" assault brigade. This initiative was met with the refusal of the special forces, but they were ready to participate in hostilities.
Facevych explained that since the beginning of the war, police officers, including special purpose units, actively participated in the defense of Ukraine. This served as a basis for:
- disbanding of the special purpose regiment of the GUNP in the Dnipropetrovsk region;
- transfer of all special forces of the regiment to the assault brigade of the National Police "Lyut" in accordance with Article 65 of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police of Ukraine".
"Those who refuse to join Lyut will be released with summonses," Facevych added.
The National Police also noted that in 2023, amendments were made to the law "On the National Police", according to which special police officers can participate in combat operations directly.
Despite the additional functions that law enforcement officers have received since the beginning of the war, special forces remain an important component in the fight against threats. They show loyalty every day and remain faithful to the oath of loyalty to the Ukrainian people.
Recently, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, visited the training center for mobile fire groups during a working trip to the Dnipropetrovsk region.
