The threshold score is the minimum number of test points that you need to score an entrant on a national multi -grade test (NMT) to be able to participate in the competitive selection to higher education institutions. This is a key indicator determined by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine every year.
In 2025, in order to pass the threshold and be admitted to the competition for entry, the entrant must recruit at least 15% of the correct responses for each item he handed over to the NMT. It is important to note that the threshold score concerns the test points, not the ratings, that is, these points determine the possibility of participation in the competition.
If the entrant has scored a threshold or more, he can receive a rating of 100 to 200 points for each item that will allow him to submit results to the university's admissions committee. At the same time, if the test score is lower than the threshold, the entrant will not submit these results for entry.
Transfer of test points to the rating scale is carried out by means of special translation tables, which are set for each subject in accordance with the order of admission in a particular year.
At the NMT 2025, to get 100 rating points for each item, entrants need to be scored:
- 5 points in mathematics, foreign language and physics;
- 6 points in chemistry;
- 7 points in Ukrainian language, Ukrainian literature, geography and biology;
- 8 points on the history of Ukraine.
These requirements enable entrants to count on participation in competitive selection if they reach a threshold score for each of the subjects, which is determined in the exam.
