How many Ukrainians are planned to be drafted into the Armed Forces in 2024

The former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi declared the need to mobilize half a million citizens. Deputy Ruslan Horbenko commented on whether this figure is relevant after increased mobilization.

Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, National Minorities and International Relations, Ruslan Horbenko, revealed the exact number of Ukrainians planned to be mobilized during the year.

During the planning of the counteroffensive under the leadership of Valery Zaluzhnyi, there was a need to mobilize 500,000 Ukrainians. "However, aid from international partners was unfortunately delayed," the deputy noted.

Subsequently, Zaluzhnyi was replaced by Oleksandr Syrskyi. The new military commander approved the defense plan for 2024, which no longer provided for the mobilization of such a large number of people. "It is also important to take into account that to ensure the draft of 500,000 people, weapons and a huge financial resource are needed for their training and maintenance," Horbenko emphasized.

Today, the military command and servicemen talk about the need to mobilize 100-110 thousand people by 2024. According to Horbenka, it is planned to mobilize up to 120,000 Ukrainians during the year.
