Solar activity is increasing: how to survive magnetic storms without a headache

In early May, an increase in geomagnetic activity is expected in Ukraine. According to the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, a period of moderate magnetic storms will continue from May 4 to 6. This is a yellow level of danger on the K-index scale: from 3.67 to 4. These are not the highest indicators, but they can be felt by weather-dependent people.

On Saturday, May 4, solar activity is expected to increase to a K-index of 3.9. On Sunday, it is predicted to reach level 4, and on Monday, May 6, activity will decrease slightly, although it will remain within the yellow level. Note that these indicators are not critical, but they can affect well-being, especially in people with cardiovascular diseases, hypertension or chronic ailments.

Magnetic storms are caused by solar flares, when streams of charged particles reach the Earth's magnetosphere. Such changes can affect not only electronic communication systems, but also the human body. The most common symptoms are headaches, increased fatigue, decreased performance, irritability and sleep problems. Some people experience pressure in the temples or drops in blood pressure.

Despite widespread fears, doctors reassure: there is no need to panic. Most symptoms are short-lived and do not pose a serious threat. On such days, it is important to stick to your usual regimen, avoid overwork, and not overload yourself physically and emotionally. Children, the elderly, and patients with chronic diseases require special attention.

Experts advise to monitor your well-being, drink more water, do not drink alcohol and coffee in excessive quantities, and give up heavy meals. Short walks in the fresh air will help reduce stress. In case of persistent symptoms, you should consult a doctor.

Magnetic activity forecasts are updated every few hours. Therefore, weather-sensitive people should monitor changes in order to take timely measures to stabilize their well-being. A magnetic storm is not a cause for alarm, but a reminder that the body reacts to the environment, even if we do not always notice it.
