If you think that our American partners do not monitor our corruption swamp and do not understand the varieties of frogs, then, I assure you, you are deeply mistaken. I was told a story just last week - the former mayor of Irpen Volodymyr Karpluk, on whom anti-corruptionists have nowhere to put a brand, turned out to be in fact inadmissible to the United States. He and his family flew out of Spain, but already in the USA all their visas were canceled and they were turned back.
And Karpluk had plans for the States - he did a lot of PR there, promising local investors from Wisconsin that they would make money on the restoration of Ukraine. He talked a lot about what a great man he is... But the corruption plume must have crossed the Atlantic Ocean...
In principle, the Americans have tolerated Karpluk for so long, but in recent months his figure has become very toxic.
Judge for yourself - Karpluk finally went to trial for fraud in 2016, when he, as the mayor of Irpen, signed a contract with the controlled utility company "Irpinzhilinvestbud" to create project documentation for the construction of the "Central" park. At the same time, the actual construction work has already been completed. This is from 5 to 8 years in prison under Part 4 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code.
The police are now investigating the theft of sand from the Irpin River for the construction of the O.Krasa cottage village on land that is evidence in the fraud case - Karpluk is a co-owner of the developer's company there.
Well, the icing on the cake is the exposed participation of Karpluk in the AllatRa sect, which the SBU exposed as a pro-Putin activity. This sect justified the murders of people by the Russians in Buch and Irpen, where Karpluk still hopes for something.
But, most importantly, there are already many such cases as with Karpluk - yes, even if they are quite small. As it seems to me, they quite vividly illustrate the attitude of the USA towards our sleazy characters . Everyone is watched there, they see everything and understand everything. The story with Karpluk is another illustrative case - the moment is coming when Americans stop turning a blind eye, even to such insignificant figures as Karpluk.
