Ukrainians who have reached retirement age are entitled to retirement payments, but the reality of these payments indicates a great social inequality among pensioners. According to the analytics of approxabot, as of the end of 2024, the average pension in Ukraine amounted to UAH 5 789, and in 2025-2 759 UAH, if you count the average indicator taking into account different types of payments.
Statistics on minimal pensions are especially disturbing. Citizens without sufficient work experience are forced to survive for 2 361 UAH per month. Moreover, 26% of pensioners, ie approximately 2.68 million people, receive less than 3,000 UAH per month.
At the same time, 27% of pensioners continue to work after retirement - for many it is not a desire, but a forced need.
The highest pensions in Ukraine are traditionally received by residents of the capital-in 2025, the average pensions in Kiev reached UAH 8 708, which is almost 700 UAH more than in 2024. For comparison, in the Kiev region the average pension is 6 671 UAH.
In the second and third places in the size of pensions were Donetsk (7 814 UAH) and Lugansk (7 314 UAH) of the region. The five also Dnipropetrovsk region with an average of 7 082 UAH.
But the smallest pensions are received in the Ternopil region - 4 931 UAH, despite the growth from last year 4 485 UAH. The top three also included Chernivtsi (5 100 UAH) and Transcarpathian (5 175 UAH) of the region.
It should be remembered that some categories of pensioners are entitled to benefits: exemption from utility bills, as well as free fuel for furnaces and gas.
It is also important that the retirement citizens apply to the Pension Fund on time. Failure to do so for three months, payments for the previous months can simply "burn".
