Consideration of the appeal of the founder of the Statewatch and anti -corruption activist Alexander Lemenov, who is suspected of evasion of conscription during mobilization, was postponed to February 3, 2025. The court had to consider a complaint against the chosen preventive measure on January 28, but the meetings were postponed.
It should be reminded that on December 27, 2024, the Belotserkovsky City District Court determined for Lemenov a preventive measure in the form of a pledge in the amount of 60 560 UAH. He was also given responsibilities in accordance with Article 194 of the CCP: to arrive on the call of investigators and to report a change in place of residence.
According to the investigation materials, Lemenov, having a military-accounting specialty "Organization of moral and psychological support of troops", was registered in the Belotserkovsky military enlistment office. On February 5, 2024, he underwent a medical examination and was recognized as suitable for military service. However, on December 6, 2024, when he was read the summons for sending to the army, he refused to receive it in the presence of two witnesses and did not appear on the collection point without explanation.
On December 8, Lemenov was suspected of Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("evasion of conscription during mobilization"), which provides up to five years in prison.
The court's decision emphasizes that Lemenov, "aware of the difficult period for the state, consciously evaded the performance of military duty, opposing himself to society." Moreover, according to the investigation, from November 24, 2024, he avoided visiting the military enlistment office, for which he was wanted.
In the context of this case, the other founder of Statewatch, Gleb Kanevsky, was not overlooked. He, after a long evasion, was employed by the Ministry of Defense in the Procurement Department. With his arrival, this unit was at the center of high -profile corruption scandals, in particular on inflated prices for the purchase of military equipment.
This story fits into a broader tendency when anticorruption activists are accused of evading mobilization. The term "Shabunin" has even emerged in society - in honor of the anti -corruption officer Vitaliy Shabunin, who was also repeatedly accused of avoiding service. This list also includes other well -known public sector representatives, including journalists and experts.
Meanwhile, Lemenov continues to insist on his innocence and challenges a measure of restraint in court. It is expected that on February 3 there will be a meeting that can clarify its further fate.
