In Sumy region, law enforcement officers reported suspicions against the deputy head of one of the departments of the district department of the Main Department of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine for receiving illegal benefits. His acquaintance will be held responsible for aiding and abetting this crime. This was reported by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, during an unscheduled inspection of one of the public catering establishments, violations were discovered regarding the storage and use of food products. An employee of the State Food and Consumer Protection Service of Ukraine involved an acquaintance, who suggested that the owner of the establishment "establish a partnership" with the regulatory body in order to avoid future inspections.
The intermediary informed the entrepreneur that in order to reduce the amount of the fines, he must transfer 15 thousand hryvnias to the employee, as well as pay a monthly tribute of 3 thousand hryvnias. Law enforcement officers documented the fact that the employee received 27 thousand hryvnias through the intermediary.
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officials are urging people to report any facts of corruption in the catering sector and regulatory authorities.
