On November 11, believers remember Saint Theodore the Studite, one of the most famous theologians of Byzantium, a reformer of monasticism, and defender of icon veneration. He was born in 759 in Constantinople and dedicated his life to serving God, spiritual education, and strengthening church traditions.

Theodore headed the Studiysky Monastery, which became a center of theological scholarship and monastic discipline. His reform influenced the spiritual life not only of Byzantium, but also of Kyivan Rus' - it was according to his rules that the monasticism of the Kyivan Pechersk Lavra was formed.

The saint openly spoke out against iconoclasts and emperors who tried to subordinate the church to political interests. For his beliefs, he suffered exile, beatings, and imprisonment, but did not renounce his faith. Theodore the Studite died on November 11, 826, and was later canonized as a confessor.

The people called this day Theodore Winter's Day - it was believed that it was from November 11 that autumn "fights" with winter.
